Survey reveals that over 82% of South Africans achieve higher performance during a 'workation'

Never heard of a workation? Not to worry! Neither have over 84% of South Africans. This is according to a survey that we recently conducted via our social platforms. The Travel Diaries Survey was responded to by over 9,900 travellers across South Africa and revealed some fascinating travel sentiments for the year 2021 and beyond.

So, what is a workation you ask? In essence, a workation is taking a break from your usual place of work, but not from the work itself! While the world has already started to change as a result of the global pandemic, the desire to explore (in whatever form) has not been dampened. According to the survey, out of the 84% of those that have never been on a workation, 79% would absolutely take one! Even more fascinating was that of those that had taken a workation before, over 82% revealed that their performance and morale improved as a result.

The pandemic has resulted in a new normal for many South Africans when in comes to work arrangements. According to the survey, approximately 65% of South Africans now have the flexibility to work remotely. This is likely to result in increased workations due to the need for a change of scenery now and again, particularly when the mental benefits appear to be extremely positive.

And finally, the survey revealed that approximately 54% of travellers would prefer to take a workation with a partner or as a part of a small group. All we can say is, we are hoping to see a lot more productivity and efficiency coming out of the new work setups. So perhaps it could be a win-win for everyone! Happy travels.
